Seven vanities, quiet to loud
Find the one closest to the bathroom you have in mind. Under each is what we would cut for it: the stone, the basin and the edge. The room around it is yours.
These rooms are generated pictures, not finished jobs: each top was generated from a photograph of the real slab named beside it. Photographs of our own work are further down, under vanity tops from our jobs.

Quiet Caesarstone Frosty Carrina (1 of 7 on the scale)
A soft white quartz with a whisper of fine grey vein: it reads as white from the door and as stone up close, and lets the oak and the light do the rest.
- Top
- Caesarstone 5141 Frosty Carrina, 20 mm, polished square edge, with a low upstand along the wall
- Basin
- Under-mounted, so the top wipes straight into the bowl
- Room
- Fluted pale oak, limewashed walls, brushed nickel

Soft Eezi Quartz Bianco Venato (2 of 7 on the scale)
White with sparse grey veins: calm enough to let two gentle colours share the room without the top taking a side.
- Top
- Eezi Quartz Bianco Venato, 20 mm, polished edge
- Basin
- A round basin standing on the top; we cut the waste hole
- Room
- Sage reeded vanity on brass legs, blush plaster, terrazzo

Warm Origin Quartz Calacatta Gold (3 of 7 on the scale)
Golden-beige veins pick up the brass and the clay, so the top belongs to the room instead of sitting on it.
- Top
- Origin Quartz Calacatta Gold, 20 mm, polished edge, 100 mm upstand
- Basin
- Under-mounted
- Room
- Walnut and cane, terracotta zellige, aged brass

Patterned Carrara marble (4 of 7 on the scale)
Carrara’s soft grey web holds its own against a busy tile. Marble needs sealing and a little care in a bathroom: the stone notes below say what.
- Top
- Carrara marble, 20 mm, polished, with a matching shelf on the wall
- Basin
- A hammered copper basin standing on the marble
- Room
- Cobalt vanity, blue and white patterned tiles, brass

Graphic Black Pearl granite (5 of 7 on the scale)
A black top with a silver fleck anchors a loud colour, and polished granite is a hard-wearing choice for a family bathroom.
- Top
- Black Pearl granite, 20 mm, polished square edge and upstand
- Basin
- Under-mounted rectangle
- Room
- Saffron ribbed vanity, checkerboard floor, chrome

Statement Pro Quartz Calacatta Regal (6 of 7 on the scale)
Bold gold veins run over a mitred front edge, so the top reads as one thick block of stone across a double vanity.
- Top
- Pro Quartz Calacatta Regal, with a mitred front edge for a thicker look
- Basin
- Two under-mounted basins
- Room
- Emerald fluted lacquer, green zellige, brass

Loud Eezi Quartz Nero Venato (7 of 7 on the scale)
Black quartz with fine white lightning veins: the top that can stand up to a red room and a gold mirror.
- Top
- Eezi Quartz Nero Venato, 20 mm, polished edge, cut to the vanity’s curve
- Basin
- A sculptural basin standing on the black top
- Room
- Oxblood lacquer, burgundy plaster, gold
What do we cut for a vanity?
The top, cut to your cabinet, with the hole your basin needs. Which hole depends on how the basin is fitted, so choose the basin first.
Under-mounted
The basin is fixed under the top. We cut the hole to the basin’s template and polish its edge, so the top wipes straight into the bowl.
Sit-on
The basin stands on the top. We cut the waste hole, and a tap hole if the tap stands on the top rather than the wall.
Drop-in
The basin’s rim rests on the top and covers the cut edge. The simplest basin to swap later.
- Stone basins we supply, to sit on the top or fit under it: see how to choose a stone basin
- Upstands and splashbacks in the same stone as the top
- Tap holes for taps that stand on the top
- Edges polished in the profile you choose, or mitred for a thicker look
- Shelves and sills to match
- Wall cladding around the vanity: see stone wall cladding
- A second top for the guest loo, cut from the same slab
Which stone for a bathroom?
All four work. They differ in how they take water, make-up, hair dye and cleaning products.
-
Quartz
Engineered stone: even colour, non-porous, no sealing. An easy top to live with in a busy bathroom.
Mind: wipe off nail-polish remover, hair dye and strong cleaners promptly, and put hot styling tools down on a mat.
-
Granite
Natural stone, very hard, every slab its own. Polished granite stands up well to daily wear.
Mind: some granites need sealing and some do not; we tell you which yours is.
-
Marble
The classic bathroom stone, with natural veining that differs in every slab.
Mind: marble is softer and reacts to acids, so some cleaners and cosmetics can dull the polish. It is sealed, wiped dry, and a honed finish hides wear best.
-
Porcelain
Sintered stone in large slabs: very hard, stain-resistant and slim at 12 mm.
Mind: the edges are its weak point, so we plan them when we template.

What customers say
“From start to finish of our new countertop we experienced the impeccable service of Marble Mill. Upon entering their office, we had the most kind help in choosing the material. The template was made in our house by one of Marble Mill’s crew members who gave us exquisite advice to make our new kitchen more amazing. Soon after, the installation crew did their job and I must say, what fantastic workers! Kind, thorough, hardworking and true craftsmen. The end result is better than we expected.”

Questions about vanity tops
Can you cut a top for a vanity cabinet I already have?
Yes. We measure and template on site once the cabinet is in place, then cut the top to fit it exactly, with the cut-outs for your basin and taps.
Do I need the basin and taps before you template?
Yes, choose them first. The basin hole and tap holes are cut to the models you choose, and whether the basin is under-mounted, sits on top or drops in changes the cut.
Do you supply stone basins?
Yes. We supply stone basins, and cut the vanity top to suit the one you choose, whether it sits on the top or fits under it.
Which stone is best for a bathroom vanity?
All four work. Quartz is the easiest to live with because it needs no sealing. Granite is very hard and suits a busy family bathroom. Marble is the classic, but it is softer and needs sealing and care with acids. Porcelain is very stain-resistant and slim at 12 mm.
Can I have a granite vanity top?
Yes. Granite is one of the hardest-wearing vanity tops, polished or in another finish, with an under-mounted, sit-on or drop-in basin. We cut it from the slab you choose.
How thick is a vanity top?
Usually 20 mm. For a heavier look we cut 30 mm stone or mitre a deeper front edge, and porcelain comes in slim 12 mm slabs.
How long does it take?
We usually fit 4 to 5 days after templating. The template is made on site once the cabinet is in.
Do you make stone baths?
No. We cut the stone for the rest of the bathroom: vanity tops, upstands, shelves and wall cladding.
Do you charge for quotes?
No. Measuring and quotes are free. You only pay for the work we do.
