How a job goes through the workshop

Six stops between your drawing and a fitted top: our workshop cuts it and our own crew fits it.

  1. Full-size quartz, granite and porcelain slabs standing on steel racks in a workshop

    The slab

Chosen from the rack, by you or your client, before anything is cut.

  2. A fitter's hands laying out a template of thin white strips on new oak base cabinets

    The template

Made on site once the cabinets are in: every wall, every opening.

  3. A white veined quartz slab being cut to size under a spray of water

    The cut

Cut to the template in Diep River, the joins planned where they show least.

  4. Gloved hands polishing the front edge of a white quartz piece, with water and slurry

    Cut-outs and edges

Sink, hob and tap holes machined; every edge polished to your profile.

  5. Finished countertop pieces strapped upright on a transport trolley with protected edges at a workshop door

    The load

Checked, edges protected, strapped and labelled for your site.

  6. Two installers, seen from the shoulders down, lowering a white quartz top onto new oak cabinets

    The fit

Fitted by our own crew, usually 4 to 5 days after templating, joins filled to match.

The pictures on this page are renders of each stage, not photographs of our workshop, and they will be replaced with our own photographs. For photographs of finished work, see the gallery.

Who do we cut for?

The trade accounts in our booking diary fall broadly into five groups. Each wants something a little different, and the workshop runs all five side by side.

  • Kitchen manufacturers and joiners

Kitchen tops, islands, sculleries and vanities, templated once your carcasses are in.

  • Shopfitters and hospitality

Bar, back and reception counters, and restaurant and hotel tops.

  • Builders

Kitchens and bathrooms on your projects, cut to your drawings and fitted to your programme.

  • Designers and architects

Specified stones, book-matched panels and one-off pieces, from your drawings.

  • Furniture makers

Table tops cut to size or to a diameter, one at a time or as a batch.

What do we make for the trade?

  • Kitchen tops, islands and sculleries
  • Vanity and bathroom tops, our busiest line
  • Bar, back and reception counters
  • Restaurant and hotel tops
  • Fireplace surrounds and hearths
  • Wall cladding and splashbacks
  • Table tops, cut to size or diameter, in batches

Questions the trade asks us

Do you work for kitchen manufacturers and joiners?

Yes. Trade work fills about a third of our booking diary, for kitchen manufacturers, joiners, shopfitters, builders, interior designers and architects.

Can you quote from drawings or a cutting list?

Yes, and the quote is free. Have the drawings or a cutting list ready when you get in touch, with the stone and colour, the sink, hob and tap models, the edge profile and the site address, and we quote the job line by line.

When do you template, and how long until you fit?

We template on site once the cabinets or carcasses are installed, and we usually fit 4 to 5 days after templating. Tell us your programme when you get in touch and we will plan around it.

Do you install, or can we collect?

Both. Our own crew fits kitchens, vanities and counters. Cut-to-size pieces and table tops can be collected from the workshop at 11 Mocke Road, Diep River.

Which stones do you cut?

Granite and marble; quartz from Caesarstone, Silestone, Eezi Quartz, Origin Quartz, Enduro Quartz, Vicostone and Pro Quartz; and porcelain from Dekton, Neolith, Sapienstone and Infinity.

Do you do commercial and hospitality work?

Yes: bar, back and reception counters, restaurant and hotel tops, and shopfitting work, cut to your drawings.

Can you cut table tops in quantity?

Yes. We cut round tops to a diameter and rectangular tops to size, one at a time or as a batch of the same piece.

Do you charge for quotes?

No. Measuring and quotes are free. You only pay for the work we do.
